Alive or Dead?
OK, I thought I’d seen ALL of these ‘send us your contact details so you can receive your funds‘ spam emails from Nigeria and the like, but this one almost made me wish I’d been wearing Pampers at the time I read it.
I said ‘almost‘.
Subject:ALIVE OR DEAD
Attention : Beneficiary
Sir,
In the course of our General Auditing and Account revision of the first quarter of the year 2007 ending within few days from now, we discovered that the Bank Accounts belonging to some Benefactors have been changed on the basis that the owners have died some time last year or have given out an authorization note of change of data.
After the investigations however, it was revealed that there are Foreigners who are collaborating with Retired Staffs to make these changes illegally without the knowledge of the Bonafide Benefactors and one traced to your own change is this Mr Rick Jones who said you are dead, hence they have forwarded some documents of funeral service held for you so as to divert your fund. They have also forwarded this bank account below as the new account that will receive this money.
156 Boston Street (Lynngate Shopping Center)
112 Market Street
Account Name : Rick Jones
Account Number : 235-325172-882
Bank Code : 024
Swift Code : HASEHKHH
But we wanted to confirm if actually this is true and hence decided to write to your email address which after 2 days from now and there is no response, we will then know that you are dead indeed and go on with the transfer.
If proved otherwise by you that you did not die, please forward to us all the related Benefactors particulars including your Telephone number, contact address. These details from you will help to assist us reach a conclusion that you are not dead.
Anything contrary to this claim will help us charge this man to court and prosecute him while your fund will be paid to you immediately without any further delay.
You have to get back to us on time for us to commence legal proceedings against Mr. Rick Jones and his accomplices.
Yours Faithfully.

Human imagination know no limits.
At least they are covered on all bases- no response means you dead!!!
Actually it is a little sick.

This is definitely the worst one I have ever seen. How nice to get an email telling you that you missed your own funeral.
What really scares me is that some people fall for these things. When i was a Rainbow franchisee my head office sent a couple of emails telling us to be careful, because other franchisees had been scammed by these types!
I think the fact that such idiots could even be running a business scared me more than the actual scams.

Quite actually I find these hilarious. The grammer is usually awful and this case is no exception.
In this particular contact they’ve used the “fear of loss” routine.
Yep, sadly there may be those who will fall for these, though I know of no one personally who has.
I just hope they have someone who recognizes this for the bogus offer it is and looks out for their best interests…
