Fresh News Theme by Adii
Pictured below is the Fresh News Theme most recently released by Adii of Premium News Themes.

Nice, huh?
The Fresh News was designed and coded by Magnus Jepson. You’ll notice some similiarities between this and Adii’s other themes as it was built on the framework of previous Premium News themes.
Adii has included 6 color schemes with the theme, including:
- Default (shown above)
- Brownie
- Grey
- Ice Blue
- Simply Red
- Whitey
- Cool Blue
- BlacknBlue
They’ve also included a standard blog layout template that will make your homepage look like a traditional blog without losing any of the functions and features built into the themes. All that is required to switch between the 2 looks is selecting the appropriate option.
I use the Premium News theme on RosalindGardner.com (ignore the wonky search button - I was playing around with the CSS and haven’t gotten around to fixing it yet) and what I especially appreciate about these themes is that features such as Flickr, Feedburner and banner ad management are integrated.
To see all else that is included with these themes, visit Premium News.
Note: The link above will take you to a purchase page. To see the Fresh News theme in action, click on ‘Info about this theme’ in the right sidebar and then any of the linked color schemes. (Guess I’m gonna have to talk to that boy about visitor and affiliate friendly site navigation, huh?) ![]()

Blogging is a “Massive Mistake”… HUH?
My jaw dropped as I saw the subject line of an email sent out by Ken Evoy last week which read:
Why Blogging Is A Massive Mistake!
HUH?
At one point Ken states “Blogging has reached lemming status. Without even thinking, many small businesses equate blogging with having a Web site“.
Sure, call me and the 112.8 million other bloggers out there ‘lemmings’, but at least we know that a blog IS a web site. Moreover, a blog is a web site that is built to find and deliver search engine traffic… immediately.
Ping - ping - PING!
For those who haven’t started blogging yet - a Wordpress blog is a site-building platform and content management system with an online publishing interface. And because Wordpress is distributed under an open source license called the GNU General Public License, it’s distributed free of charge.
Better yet, easy-to-install (or auto-install) widgets and plugins are regularly developed for Wordpress by legions of progammer/user/contributors who see ways to enhance the software’s already stellar functionality.
By the way, those widgets are also free of charge.
Ken also wrote that blogging is:
…obviously wrong for small businesses with something to sell” and is “also the wrong choice for infopreneurs (ex., those who earn affiliate and AdSense income, without selling anything directly to customers).

Jason’s Video Marketing Strategy Follow-Up
Hi everyone,
I’d like to thank you all for the positive feedback you’ve given me regarding my story, How Jason Increased His Affiliate Site Traffic by 500%, and I’m extremely pleased I was able to “stir” up some ideas.
I want to follow up with one tip that I think should be addressed.
I’ve noticed in so many of the comments that many of you plan to add videos to your site. While I obviously am a big fan of videos, it’s important to note the reason “why” the particular videos increased my site’s traffic and revenue so much. Read more

Email Marketing: A Case for Text Newsletters
Here’s a comment that I received from Ron Schmidt last week on our Support Desk…
I wanted the newsletter but I couldn’t read it in the HTML code in which it was received. Please resend the newsletter. Thanks.
UGH.
I do know better than to send out my newsletters only in HTML format, but the truth is that I’ve gotten lazy over the past several months — assuming that everyone accepts HTML newsletters now. Well, you know what they say about assuming anything… and in this case the only *ss is me.
What is really dumb is that I often neglect to include a link to the blog entry where the latest newsletter is posted.
So, to make matters right, from now on I’ll send my email newsletters either in both HTML and text formats, or as text only. It’s not like that’s hard to do using the Aweber autoresponder interface… it’s actually incredibly easy.
And although Ron’s message made a significant impression, the following email that I received just a few days later, really brought the point home…

Are You Losing Money Due to Slow Page Loads?
Look at the image on the left.
That’s what I got to look at for 24 seconds while waiting for a popular blogger’s site to load.
UGGGGGHHHHH!
And no, it’s not a slow connection on my end — almost every other site I visit loads instantly. What’s worse - every page on this blog takes as long or longer to load… every single time.
Now, the only reason that I bother waiting for this site to load is because I know and enjoy this blogger’s work. He shares all manner of valuable tips, interesting anecdotes and personal stories on his blog.
I don’t mind the wait because I know it’s coming. I do some other work on my computer and when I see his favicon come up on the tab in Explorer, I know that page has finally loaded and is available for viewing.
That works for me, but what about first-time visitors to his site? Do you think they bother waiting nearly half a minute for a page to load. Some might, but MOST definitely will NOT… which means that he’s not making nearly as much money from his blog as he could.
So why does his blog load SO painfully slow when others load instantly?
Well, in a nutshell… he’s got too much ’stuff’ (that’s put nicely) going on.
- On a single page you’ll see ads, ads and more ads. He’s got Kontera, Chitika, ReviewMe, Peel away ads, top of page ad bars, one or more 468×60’s banners, at least ten 125 x 125 banner ads — many of which contain Flash.
- His standard top of page navigation is heavily graphic-laden and takes up everything above the fold.
- He obviously runs a ton of Wordpress plugins and there is a TON of javascript code running on each page which is notorious for slowing sites down when scripts from different programs conflict.
- Instead of linking to one primary stylesheet, the CSS code has been built into his header.php, which adds approximately 3000 unecessary characters to each and every page.
UGGGGGHHHH again. Mostly unecessary and a total waste of good traffic.
So, what can you do if your site is loading slower than you would prefer?
The answer is simple — lighten up!! Here are a few easy ways to do that:
- Reduce the number of graphic images that you use on your blog and that includes banner ads.
- Decrease the color depth of your own images to 256 and make them as small as possible.
- Test your site for loading after installing any new plugin or javascript widget.
- Consider whether you really need to put your Flickr album and broadcast all your Twitter tweets in your sidebar or whether having a link to those accounts would accomplish the same goal.
If those simple tweaks don’t solve your page load issues, or you’re not a geek / technically inclined, hire a programmer at RentaCoder to help solve the problem.
Bottom line — when people can’t see your site due to slow page loads, you’re killing your bottom line.
