NPT Digest: If you do nothing else today…
While I watched the maple tree outside my office window lose all it’s leaves this week, I added quite a variety of posts to the blog — everything from a new product release (the availablility of which a number of you had queried), my Halloween costume, to 2 programs that should work on just about any site — especially during the holidays and quite a few more.
Here are the ‘nutshell’ descriptions:
- As of Monday at 5pm Pacific time there are 84 SCGM v.5 packages left. These will be of interest only to those with IM sites.
- My ‘cop-out’ costume from Cafe Press…
- Witness my old VAIO getting destroyed…
- The Ipsos program is now on ShareResults. Good one to add to just about any site.
- Another affiliate program (with big EPC’s) that I think affiliates should consider adding to their sites, especially now…
- Ticonderoga is holding the first gaming affiliate convention in Macau in November…
- My VERY long overdue Speed PPC review…
- Lastly, if you do nothing else today, watch this video…
Speaking of videos, I’ll have one for you next week.

Tiny*Prints: BIG EPC’s for Affiliates
At the last Affiliate Summit, I picked up a Tiny*Prints ‘Last Minute Card Kit’ (shown here to the left). The card kit was originally designed for the 2007 Golden Globe Style Lounge event where celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Brooke Shields and Jessica Simpson placed orders for the unique cards. The pack of 10 foldover cards, each with a coordinating colored envelope was also placed in the Entertainment Weekly Oscar gift bags.
The cards were of such high quality that I checked out the Tiny*Prints site and affiliate program. I went straight to the Customer Testimonials page where I found 100’s of testimonials from satisfied customers, most of whom note not only the great product quality, but the exceptional customer service that they received from Tiny*Prints.
It was easy to understand why their customers are so pleased when I noticed that Tiny*Prints offers a a convenient pre-ship envelope service to all customers purchasing birth announcements. They send the announcement envelopes before the actual delivery date, which allows customers to address the envelopes in advance and get them out quicker after the baby is born. Nice touch!
Tiny*Print also offers photo greeting cards, which are great for custom birth announcements and family holiday greetings.
Their affiliate program is administered by the ShareaSale affiliate network. Here are some of the details:
- Base commission rates of 10%
- up to 15% commissions with volume sales
- Monthly affiliate promotions - e.g., $250 for the first five affiliates who reach monthly volume target
- $175 average holiday order size and $35 EPC!
- 180-day cookie
- 5% holiday coupons for customers
- Product data feed
Tiny Prints reports that they are expecting a tremendous holiday season in 2007 with expected order volume of over 5 million cards, and reminds affiliates that the peak season for their holiday orders begins in mid-October and runs into mid-December.
Card categories and products include:
- Baby Shower Invitations
- Baptism & Christening
- Birthday Party Invitations
- Bar & Bat Mitzvahs
- Holiday Parties
- Corporate Holiday Parties
- Holiday Party Favors
- Baby Shower Favors & Gifts
- Dogs and Pets
I’d highly recommend signing up to promote the Tiny*Prints program through ShareaSale over the holidays (or at any time) on almost any niche site.

Ipsos Survey Panel Program Now on ShareResults
I just got word from Share Results that IPSOS is the latest merchant to join their affiliate network. That’s awesome news for affiliates.
Ipsos is one of the largest survey-based research companies in the world, among the most trusted research brands in North America and conducts over six million surveys each year in over 100 countries in the areas of marketing research, advertising research, consumer satisfaction, media research, forecasting and public affairs.
As a Share Results affiliate, the IPSOS program pays $3 CPL for each double opt-in sign-up that you refer and Share Results reports that “IPSOS’ conversion rates are rather impressive. Targeted clicks convert at 20%, email marketing converts at 25%-35% and co-registration campaigns convert at 45%“.
Ipsos offers prize incentives that will increase your conversions too. This month’s prize is a HALO 3 XBox edition and game, and there is also a quarterly cash prize of $5000.
Sample creative includes the “Hey Boys.. Like Beer” shown above left and the “Ladies: It’s Time to Have Your Say!” post at Sage-Hearts.com. I will soon put up a permanent link to Ipsos at Sage-Hearts.com that is attractive to both genders.
This program definitely qualifies as ‘easy money’ on just about any niche affiliate site.
Share Results, owned and operated by my friend Nicky Senyard, is a boutique affiliate network built on reliable tracking software and comprehensive real-time reporting. The flexible user interface makes it easy for both affiliates and merchants to measure performance and grow online leads and sales. The affiliate management team offers truly personal one-on-one support and has a serious commitment to maintain a clean network.

Saying Goodbye to the Old Sony VAIO
Since security at Toronto International Airport killed my Sony VAIO last Christmas and I determined that the repairs would cost more than both the original computer or a replacement, the old laptop has been languishing in its shipping box under my desk.
Well, during the fall version of the ’spring cleaning’ around the house, I decided that it had to go — but not before Ed rendered it completely useless to anyone inclined to pry.
Ergo, he had some fun removing the keyboard and degaussing the hard drive (destroying the data) last Saturday night.
I carved an ‘X’ into the 10.4″ screen with a screwdriver.
Aaaaagh! What a BAD BAD feeling that gave me, despite the fact that the old thing had been dead for almost a year, and although I actually prefer the VAIO SZ replacement that I bought.
The new VAIO has a much larger screen and keyboard that I can actually see and use. Using the tiny little keyboard on the old one was not fun at the best of times, and I therefore didn’t get much work done while I was on the road — other than to send really, really SHORT email responses — and only when absolutely necessary.
Anyway, we marked its departure with bags of Cheesies from the Halloween cache (see pic upper right) and went upstairs to survey the aging desktops.
Muhahaha…

This is My Halloween Costume
I love Halloween. I buy boxes and boxes of chips and candy well in advance - eat most of it - then go out and buy some more.
Treating the tykes is great fun, tricking the teenagers (then treating them) is more fun still and running up and down the stairs enroute to the front door all night is a great work-out.
That said, I’m not a big fan of wearing Halloween costumes. The mask I wore while shelling out last year was suffocating. It was also nearly impossible to see anything, so running up the stairs became ‘tripping’ up the stairs more often than not.
So when we were invited to a Halloween party this year - I knew I’d have to do something different - and CafePress came to my rescue again with the This is my Halloween costume Baseball Jersey shown to the left.
OK, I know it’s a costume cop-out, but I plan to add an orange feather boa to dress it up a bit.

Christmas 2007: Holiday Shopping Forecast
The (Canadian Thanksgiving) turkey has barely been digested and the Halloween candy hasn’t yet been shelled out, but it’s beginning to look a LOT like Christmas online.
According to Advertising.com’s second annual Holiday Shopping Study conducted to analyze consumer shopping behavior and expectations for the 2007 holiday season, results indicated that 2007 will be strong for online shopping, with 84 percent of respondents planning to spend as much as or more online than they did during the 2006 holiday season.
Also according to the survey, consumers plan to start their holiday shopping earlier this year than in 2006.
Fifty percent of survey respondents indicated that they plan to start shopping for holiday gifts in October or earlier. In 2006, 44% said they would start shopping after Thanksgiving, and 15% said they would wait until the last two weeks of December. (Perhaps the latter 15% wised up when they missed retailers’ cut-off dates and their gifts didn’t arrive in time for Christmas last year?)
Although they may start comparing products and searching for gift ideas earlier, the study indicated that most consumers will wait until November or December to make their purchases.
Advertising.com’s research supports this, with data showing that conversion rates increase from about 10% in the third week in November to almost 20% one month later. At 20%, December 15 was the highest conversion day during the 2006 season.
When asked “What are your top three reasons for going online during the holiday season?”, 54% of participants responded that deals and discounts were their primary reason, closely followed by ’save time/convenience’ and ‘compare product prices’ at 51% and 50% respectively.
When asked what types of online holiday offers/promotions survey participants found most enticing, free shipping led the pack followed by sales, coupons, rebates and special gift packages.
With these survey results in mind, please take a look at my article, ‘10 Ways to Get Your Affiliate Site Ready for Christmas‘.
