PayPerPost Now Requires Disclosure

As of today, PayPerPost.com bloggers will have to dislose that they are being paid for certain posts.

This comes hot on the heals of the Federal Trade Commission’s December 11th statement about word-of-mouth marketing, that said that those who are paid to promote products to their peers, must disclose those relationships.

The disclosure statement does not have to appear within the blog post, but must be prominently displayed via a disclosure policy on the site.

Scratch and Dent Sale

Derek Gehl over at the Internet Marketing Center is having a ’scratch and dent’ sale on his popular training videos, “The Internet Millionaire’s Protégé Bootcamp“, which outlines exactly what he did to earn over $60,000,000 online.

The videos in question got *slightly* damaged in the shipping process … a few scuffed DVD cases… a few little marks on the inside… but otherwise they’re practically brand new.

Because he can’t sell them at the regular price, he’s offering a $100.00 discount on the available sets.

So, if you can overlook a scuffed DVD case, check out the Protégé Bootcamp site right now - because, of the 279 copies, there were only 216 left when I checked a few minutes ago.

Blog Tagged: 5 Things You Didn’t Know about Rosalind Gardner

There’s a new game in town and it’s called blog tagging.

The person tagged has to tell 5 things about themselves that the blogging community didn’t know. Then they have to tag five more friends with blogs to do the same. It’s like a blog chain letter, but ultimately more fun and really gets those links going.

I was tagged by Jeremy Palmer, who was tagged by Scott Jangro, who was tagged by Shawn Collins, and so on and so forth.

Here’s my list:

  1. At the age of 13, I spent the first half of my summer holidays selling flowers from buckets on the sidewalk in front of the Wellesly Street subway in Toronto, from 9 to 5 on weekdays and Saturdays. I earned enough during the first half of the summer to buy an airline ticket to Holland where I spent the rest of the school vacation hanging out with my cousins, sans parents.
  2. At 14, I was ‘kidnapped’ by a gang of young boys while on a walking tour of Tangier, Morocco with my mother. They so captivated my attention that I didn’t even realize that the group had left the area without me. Neither did my mother apparently, as when we reunited at the bus about an hour later, nary an eyebrow was raised or a comment uttered. In the meantime, I had visited two of the boys homes and their parents’ shops, traded my running shoes for a pair of beaded slippers, smoked a cigarette and accumulated an armful of silver bracelets.
  3. My favorite game is Scrabble and my average score is 300.
  4. Somewhere at the bottom of one of the drawers in my office there are a few letters of commendation for having saved some lives while I worked as an air traffic controller. Funny how they noticed only those few times. :-) Then again, that WAS my job.
  5. Oh, and I AM natrually blonde. :-)

OK, Yanik Silver, Anik Singal, Colin McDougall, Jim Edwards and Jeff Mulligan - you’re all IT!

Cool Keyboard Trick

I just learned this cool keyboard trick from Jeff Mulligan of CBMall that will save you a lot of typing when you surf the web.

Intead of typing in the http://www. before the domain name, and the .com after it, just type in the site’s domain name into the address bar. Then hit CTRL and ENTER keys together. This adds both the http://www. and the .com and works in both Internet Explorer and Firefox browser.

Go ahead, try it. Copy SuperAffiliateHandbook into your address bar now, then hit CTRL and ENTER together. Good stuff, eh? :-)

Attend Free MSN Adcenter Webinar - Earn $100 in Credits

This is a GREAT deal for anyone who has been baffled by PPC or is worried about ‘losing’ money on a PPC campaign.

I suggest that you signup to receive the $100 credits and one of the seminars listed.

Then, before you attend the seminar, give yourself the ‘leg up’ by taking an hour to familiarize yourself with MSN Adcenter.

Here’s some background on MSN AdCenter and the Free MSN Adcenter Webinars:

In 2006 Microsoft released their highly anticipated search advertising platform MSN AdCenter. Many website owners and search marketers quickly realized how valuable MSN traffic can be.

This year MSN AdCenter has provided superior results for all of my marketing campaigns. In fact, Jeremy Palmer and I agree that the ROI from MSN Adcenter traffic outperforms Google AdWords and Yahoo Search Marketing by a large margin.

One key advantage of MSN AdCenter is that it there is less competition than Google and Yahoo. This gives your ad more visibility on the page and lowers your click costs.

MSN attracts a large consumer audience that frequently shop online, which helps you get your message in front of the right people at the right time.

Rosalind’s Birthday Suit

Rosalind's Birthday SuitLooking for cheap thrills, were you?

Well, you should be VERY glad this post isn’t what you thought it might be! :-)

Actually, this picture was taken specifically for use on a blog post at Roamsters.com, our new travel blog, to promote winter clothing essentials.

Note how I’ve personalized the promotion, relating what I wear in the picture to items of clothing that I suggest and link to.

Note too the Technorati tags that I use to increase traffic back to the site.

Lastly, notice how not every bullet point includes a link or promotional material. Instead I try to get the reader to smile… which keeps them reading.

Think of ways you can show your visitors how they will benefit from products you sell and you’ll sell more!

So, how can you personalize your affiliate promotions?

BlueHost Announces Major Upgrade

BlueHost just announced some major upgrades to their already fine service.

First, they did a massive bandwidth upgrade that should make bandwidth-related things MUCH faster. Although there are still uploading/downloading limitations in place they are 200-500% higher now than they were a few days ago and data transfer is faster.

Secondly, to help fight spam, BlueHost implemented a set of blacklists that blocks upwards of 45% of ALL email received.

Lastly, they’ve introduced service called Bluehost Antispam for $1.99 per domain per month for unlimited email to that domain. You can choose what you would like to do with the spam including marking the subject in the emails as spam, forwarding all spam to a special “junk mail” email address or having it deleted on the spot.

Look for more announcements next week about BlueHost’s new monitoring service that will give you instant access to information about the servers and network environment.
