Bad Combination: Affiliate Checks and Paper Shredders
Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later… I was going through a small stack of morning mail that included 6 affiliate checks. What I normally do is open the envelope, remove the contents and throw the envelope in the paper shredder for recycling.
Well, I pulled out the contents of an envelope from Friendfinder, shredded the envelope and when I looked for the check that came with the affiliate letter … it wasn’t there! Could it be that there was no check?
Nope.
I sifted through the tiny shreds and sure enough, there was a bit from ‘dley.com’… or Medley.com, the company that handles Friendfinder’s affiliate commission checks. :-/
Bummer.

Breast Cancer Awareness: Sylvie Learns to Breathe
You know how familiarity works on the ‘Net. Certain folks come up on your radar and suddenly you start to notice their names everwhere. You like what they have to say or the way they do business, you may promote their products, and ultimately, they become part of your regular ‘picture’.
So, although I don’t know her personally, I was saddened to learn that Sylvie Charrier (author of In Your PJ’s and recently married to Michel Fortin the famous copywriter) was diagnosed with breast cancer and subsequently underwent a mastectomy in September.
Here’s the thing. Rather than let this get the better of them, both Sylvie and Michel are using the experience to help others via their blogs.
Sylvie’s following message really struck me as important lesson for all of us…
Actually, in hindsight, it’s probably my inability to just stop and breathe for a while that caused my body to go out of whack like this. If I could do it over again, I would have taken more time to just relax over the years.

My Favorite Traffic Strategy
Anik Singal finally convinced me to give up my lazy affiliate ways and be more specific about my favorite traffic generation strategy.
To that end, he and I co-authored a very thought-provoking report that is available for download right away - and we’re not charging for it. This report reveals a “tool” that I started using almost 2 years ago that basically tripled the traffic to my site almost immediately.

Pass on Programs that Pay with ePassporte
Awhile back I found an affiliate program that looked like a good earnings prospect and was offered through the Genbucks affiliate network. As it turned out, the only two payment options Genbucks makes (EPassporte and wire transfer) left a lot to be desired. They would wire transfer your payment only AFTER you’d earned $1000 in commissions. So, I then checked out ePassporte and found the fees table (posted under a link that didn’t even look like a link).

Ya right. Most affiliates already lose a portion of their earnings when they promote for merchants that pay commissions only via PayPal. That’s quite enough thank you. We don’t need more accounts that charge transaction and annual fees. Send affiliates checks by mail, make wire transfers on much smaller amounts or pay by PayPal. Merchants and networks don’t need to re-invent the commission-payment wheel.
