Have You Changed Your BeFree Links Yet?
Final migration notices (such as the one below) have been coming in fast and furious from BeFree’s merchants of late.
The ProFlowers Affiliate Program will be moving to a new platform. The tracking of your BeFree links will end on 9/29/06. Please make sure that your BeFree contact information is up to date and please check your external email for more information.
You’ll also see notices like this one for eBags in BeFree’s (Reporting.net) Partner Gateway…
Merchant is terminating and only reports are available on Reporting.net. The reports will be available to you for 30 days after the date of termination.
The push is on to get BeFree’s merchants over to Commission Junction (in some cases the merchants have gone to Linkshare or started their own in-house programs) and affiliates to change their BeFree / BFAST links links before the BeFree links are no longer applicable.
Watch your email for those notices, find out what’s happening to your BeFree merchants and don’t get caught sending traffic for which you won’t get paid. !

I Knew Scott Boulch Was a Smart Affiliate!
After reading his Death of Adsense/Life After Adsense reports, I knew that Scott Boulch was one very smart affiliate. I was therefore delighted when I read his newsletter today and discovered his “… special recommendation for new Internet Marketers and Click Flippers!”
If you are new to internet marketing, or have only had experience with AdSense and want to get the best possible foundation for your Life After Adsense, I highly recommend Rosalind Gardner’s book “Super Affiliate Handbook! It’s inexpensive and easy to read, and it gave me the basics early on in my Internet Marketing career. I am the kind of person that won’t recommend something unless I personally have used, and profited from it. That Being said, Rosalind’s book is a must read for new Internet Marketers, and has just been updated.”
I feel like a proud Momma. ![]()

Faster Payments from MaxBounty
On October 1st, 2006, MaxBounty is making 3 changes to their payment structure that will mean faster, more convenient payments to affiliates. The changes include:
- Terms are changing from monthly net30 to monthly net15. That means they’ll process earnings on the 15th of the following month, rather than the 30th.
- Affiliates in over 35 countries can have affiliate commissions direct deposited into their bank accounts instead of waiting for checks by mail.
- Affiliates can now increase minimum payment amount in increments of $25, to avoid costly bank charges.
MaxBounty is an affiliate network based in Canada, open to affiliates from around the world. They are highly responsive to their affiliates, answering questions quickly and one one occasion, quickly made a change to their program that I requested. Good folks to work with!
Affiliates: Here’s a sample MaxBounty offer (available only to U.S.A. residents) for eFax, a service that I’ve used for years.
Try eFax FREE! Get your own local or toll-free fax number that lets you send and receive faxes by email. Try it free for 30 days! Valid C/C required.
Merchants: Thinking about starting or moving your affiliate program? Check out the great rates and services at MaxBounty.com.

For Something *Really* Different…
Yup! I think Yanik Silver has perhaps gone too far this time… he’s doing a LIVE 6 hour marathon “Underground Secrets II” teleseminar on Wednesday, October 4, 2006. (6 WHOLE hours!)
What’s the call about?
Well, after the huge success of his first Underground Online Seminar, Yanik brought together an all-new group of real-world success stories to share exactly what they are doing to bring in over $94M each year on the Internet, for his “Underground II” event held last March.
What made this seminar different is the fact NONE of the presenters were “gurus”. In fact, they weren’t even close to the same usual suspects you see at other Internet seminars. (No one was making the bulk of their income from the “Internet World” - translation - they aren’t ’shovel sellers’.)
If you missed it, you can get another chance to hear some of these “rogue agents” from Underground II speak on Wednesday.
They’ll be on the line to give up some of the secrets they shared and brand new secrets they’ve just discovered. Plus, you’ll hear from celebrity experts and attendees about their “takeaways” and “aha’s” from the event.
Just listening in on one, two or all three sessions will prove extremely profitable to your bottom line. What’s more, when you are registered for the call you are eligible to win thousands of dollars of exciting and fun prizes and products There’s nothing to buy in order to win - you just need to be on the line.
Okay now here’s my fair disclosure: Yes, this call is to highlight his new Underground II DVD/CD package release. There will only be 500 sets sold ever and registrants for the call will get a full, 24-hour head start over anyone else (another big reason to sign up!). But this marathon call is anything but a pitch - I promise it’ll be well worth your time.
Head over here now to register.
(See you on the call!
)
Cheers,
Ros
P.S. Don’t wait because these line will be filled fast! Yes, even though Yanik has secured 1000 lines for this huge call they will be snapped up quickly. Last call he did hundreds of people were locked out. Yanik told me the call is NOT being recorded or replayed so there’s only one way to hear and that’s to jump on the phone Oct. 4th. So, register now!

Ros Takes Aim at Comment Spammers
I’ve gotten to the end of my rope with blog comment spammers who appear to be getting smarter. Their posts actually seem to be considered and thoughtful.
Here’s an example:
Hi, I enjoyed reading your blog about the death of adsense. It was an intriguing article about the death of adsense. The author Scott Boulch obviously knows what he is talking about if he’s pulling in 50 K a MONTH! Wow! I am still fairly new to internet marketing but have an open mind to other individuals who may have a different opinion such as the future of adsense. I agree with Rosalind Gardner that one should not rely solely on Adsense. Feel free to check out my website for an awesome and risk-free affiliate business opportunity. Thank you. www.blogcommentspammerwebsite.com 1-800-blo-spam.
I see a number of bloggers getting duped by posts like the one above.
It seems that as long as the comment spammer says that they enjoyed the post, makes some reference to the blog post content, and that they agree with the blogger - the comment gets approved.
But LOOK again! It’s an AD, folks.
Unfortunately, you have to read through the garbage fully to appreciate that fact, which is a total waste of time. It’s also a waste of your readers’ time if you approve the comment.
Anyway, I decided to do something about the problem.
While down in Vegas at CAC2006 I went to the Gun Shop for a little target practice.
OK, to be fair, I used to be very handy with a shotgun. Many moons ago, I spent every Saturday at the range, blowing 2 clay birds to dust as they came off the trap. BAM! BAM!
Thanks to a good instructor, Jamie (pictured right), it turns out that I’m pretty handy with an AK47 and a Glock too.
OK, I’m your typical peace-loving Canadian, so I’m not really planning to shoot any comment spammers .
Suffice to say, however, that comment spammers need not bother wasting their time on my blog - considered, thoughtful comments aside.
There’s a BIG lock on the door, and they CAN’T get in - so quit wasting our time.
The spam problem on the NPT Forum is another matter entirely. Anyone up for the job of moderator?
Cheers,
Ros

NPT Forum Moderators Wanted
I can no longer keep up with all the spam on the NPT Forum and as noted in this post, the forum needs a moderator… or three. Are you up for the job? The pay sucks (nothing), but you will have my undying gratitude and a link to your site (as long as you remain a moderator) from a post on the NPT blog.
If you have time to invest and are interested, please leave a comment. Thanks!

New Links for eBay Affiliates Available Today
On September 14th, eBay announced the release of its new affiliate tracking infrastructure, Project Rover.
Rover promises to decrease the number of redirects users must follow, decrease the potential for Ad / Cookie blocking by utilizing an eBay hosted domain and allow for more seamless international affiliate promotions.
All eBay affiliates have been asked to migrate all their links to the new architecture starting today, September 25th, 2006 and to have them completely in place by November 15th, 2006.
All Rover URLs will use the same server name, rover.ebay.com, regardless of the target destination domain or eBay site. The general form for Rover links is as follows:
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1//1?SID=KEYWORD&AID=XXXXXX&PID=XXXXXX&loc=TARGET ENCODED URL
If you are an eBay affiliate and missed the announcement, login to your CJ account and there will be a copy in your mailbox.
Happy link swapping!

Revenue Magazine September/October 2006 Notes
So, there I was at a Barnes and Noble in San Francisco, home of “Revenue: The Performance Marketing Standard“, and the picture on the left is what I saw on the shelf in the Business section when I searched for the September/October 2006 issue of the magazine.
Nothing, nada. You’d have to be a very short person - or very limber - to have found where it was stashed.
I’m short, but not that short. However, thanks to years of yoga, I located the store’s solitary copy of Revenue on the 4th shelf of the bottom section. Obviously, Barnes and Noble doesn’t appreciate quality content for affiliate marketers.
The latest issue includes:
- Cover Story: Sell Green to Make Green - Marketing eco-friendly products online.
- Special Order - Catalogs have made the transition to the online universe and thanks to innovative affiliate programs, the multichannel strategy is working.
- Big Brands Believe - The dot-com bomb scared marketers, but the tide is turning and online is the place to be, even for big brand names.
- Santa in September - It’s never too early for online marketers to ramp up for Christmas – especially in a world with more broadband, cheaper shipping and sellers looking for higher search placement.
- The Social Security - Being clued in to the social networking scene is a boon for savvy online marketers looking to expand their customer reach.
- Performance Powerhouse - LinkShare has experienced many changes over the last year, but president Steve Denton says the evolution isn’t over.
- eBay: What’s in Store - The auction giant is expanding its reach and creating more opportunities for online marketers.
- Affiliate Advantage: Scott Hazard - The performer.
- CJ’s Missing Link - Commission Junction has backed off its mandatory shift to JavaScript from HTML links after an affiliate uproar.
… as well as the regular columns.
If you’re neither short nor limber, not to worry. I moved that copy to a location more befitting the mag’s stature… beside Time and The New Yorker. See the second picture.
You can also order your copy of Revenue Magazine online. Get it today. It is the only magazine specifically for affiliate marketers.
Read it and prosper!
Cheers,
Ros
