Cash in Your Old Notebook PC at Sony

If so, you might be interested in the “SonyStyle Notebook PC Trade-In Program.” You can trade in your old notebook (any brand) for credit at Sony online or retail stores.
All you have to do is complete a form (entering manufacturer, series, process type and speed, etc.) using their online estimator, and then arrange your trade-in by mail or at a SonyStyle store.
By the way, if you don’t have one yet, you’ll love Sony’s Vaio laptops.
Mine’s so small it fits in my purse… a very small purse. The only downside is that I needed stronger reading glasses to see the tiny 10.4″ screen, so you might want to get one with a bigger screen.

SBI Pricing Clarification
In this week’s NPT article, “Beware of Some Site Builder Packages“, I do end up recommending SBI! as one of the best site builders, and mention that that the yearly price of $299 works out to $24.92 per month. That is not to say that Ken at SBI! offers a monthly payment plan.
SBI! is available only as a yearly plan… which is one on the reason’s Ken can offer all those features so inexpensively - for much less than we can buy, rent or lease all the components separately.
Sorry for any confusion!
Cheers ~ Ros
P.S. The SBI! ‘get a second one for $100′ deal is available only until midnight Eastern on September 6th, 2006.

NPT Newsletter: Beware of Some Site Builder Packages
During a recent telephone consultation, my client mentioned that she was having a problem changing the background color of her site, so I offered to show her how to change the color on the cascading stylesheet (CSS) that I saw referenced on her pages.
Well, that was easier said than done, as my client was using GoDaddy’s “WebSite Tonight® Site Builder” package, which does not permit FTP access.
It, like so many other site builder packages, was lacking in other important features as well.
If you are new to web design, or are looking for a simple, full-featured site building option, read today’s Beware of Some Site Builder Packages, and don’t get caught short.

Get Your Blog Archives Under Control!
Most blog archives are structured to be a total waste of web real estate. They just go on and on and on and on and on.
For example, a blog started in July 2004 which has been posted to every month typically now has a list of 24 links in the navigation bar.
Next year there will be 36 links. In 2008, there will be 48 of the little devils, and in 2010 …. well, you get the picture.
Do yourself, and more importantly - your visitors - a favor.
Have your blog archives converted into a drop-down menu. I had the NPT blog archives re-structured by a web designer through Elance.
It took him all of ten minutes and the work only cost me a few bucks.
Of course, in a few years that drop-down is going to become pretty unwieldy too.
So, better yet, get an Elance web designer/programmer to stop the insanity completely, by listing only the last 3 months then include both a link to “Recent” and “Older” posts.
The “Older” link will direct your visitors to a page that lists individual post titles under the name of the month in which it was entered.
That makes it easier for your visitors to search your blog, which encourages them to stay longer.
The longer they stay, the more opportunity you have to turn them into customers.
Search engines will notice your increased ’stickiness’ and reward you with MORE free traffic… and all for a couple of bucks paid to a deserving designer at Elance.

What Happened to Kanoodle?
Jim R. wrote to say:
“When I clicked on Kanoodle it went to a Commision Junction page that says Kanoodle is down or no longer exists. Thought you should know.”
Thanks Jim!
I looked into it, and this is what I discovered.
On August 8th, Kanoodle announced that they will break out their content targeted sponsored links business from Kanoodle into a separate business called Pulse 360. ContextTarget, LocalTarget, BehaviorTarget, and BrightAds will move over to Pulse 360.
Kanoodle will continue to offer search targeted sponsored links through their KeywordTarget product.
Each of their companies will be held under a new parent company, Seevast.
The changes should be in effect by late September, if not sooner. Advertisers will be notified via email when any changes are required.
And I trust that CJ sent an Expired Advertiser notice regarding Kanoodle, ’cause they are nowhere to be found in the CJ interface.
Oh well, Enhance Interactive is a better deal anyway.

NPT Digest: How’d You Like to Drive a Ferrari?
Hi
Sorry for being incommunicado for so long!
I wish I could tell you that I’d been on vacation, but with both the McGraw-Hill and Revenue deadlines looming, no such luck.
Oh ya, and working on my affiliate site(s).
But yes, I have been collecting more good info - and a swack of f=r=e=e=b=i=e=s - for you in the meantime.
Here they are:
- Anik Singal (Affiliate Classroom), Mark Widawer and I got together yesterday and talked about the recent “Google Update” and what affiliates can do to both resume their advertising and protect themselves from further ‘whacks’. Anik made the recording available to everyone.
- I know many of you have been hit with outrageous pay per click charges at Google Adwords over the last couple of weeks. Here’s something else to try..
- You can pick up publications from TradePub.com in a huge range of business and other categories - gratis.
- Here’s a free talking ebook by Michael Green and Peter Twist that tells you how to pr0fit from your diary.
- I will be speaking at the Casino Affiliate Convention in Las Vegas at the Stardust Resort and Casino on September 14-15, 2006.
- And … saving the best for last, how about a Ferrari as incentive to promote a product?
Have a great week, and oh ya, I’ve opened the blog up to comments again.
Cheers,
Ros
