YOU Can Do Better…

IGR (InfoGoRound) has just released their “Instant Niche Web-Site Builder” which allows you to generate customizable Adsense web-sites on topics/keywords that you choose.

Here’s a sample site that was created in under 5 minutes using Instant Niche Web-Site Builder:

http://huntingarea.com/travel/

It’s OK, but you can do much better using IGR’s techhnology.

If you’ve been reading NPT, you know that I believe that successful and sustainable online businesses are built around your own original and unique content and that I ‘m not a big fan of Adsense sites that use generic (read ‘boring’) keyword-based content which is written simply to attract traffic from the search engines.

However - an IGR membership gives you the option to modify most aspects of the template and articles which means you could end up with a truly unique site while using their technology.

For example you can insert your own affiliate links within each private label article.

If you go this route, DO take advantage of this option.

I’d also eliminate the news feeds which are dynamically inserted into the page. While the constantly fresh content encourages more search engine traffic, the headings are non-paying links which you want to keep to a bare minimum.

A major benefit to IGR is that each site utilizes *exclusive* private label article content - meaning that author bylines are NOT required with their attendant ‘leaky’ non-paying links out to the authors’ web sites.

If you want a quick start to content site building and are willing to add your own content (Chris Knight of EzineArticles.com told us during the Underground Seminar that 25% original content constitutes the perfect mix), take a look at IGR’s “Instant Niche Web-Site Builder“.

Happy building!

Dan’s Da Man!

WAHumor Way Dan Reinhold, subject of my article ‘Humor Writer Cries in Beer as Pitch to Affiliates “Strikes Out”‘ took the bait and stepped up to the plate.

I just knew he would. ;-)

If you haven’t already, I suggest reading the article, then check out the changes that he’s made to his site.

If his delightful book, “The WAHumor Way: Reality Check, Please! How To Successfully Start Your Own Home Business Without Cracking Up” is a good match for your work-at-home audience, I highly recommend that you highly recommend it.

Commissions are set at 50%.

Good work, Dan!

These Boots Were Made for Walkin’

Before flying back to Toronto from D.C. yesterday, I spent the afternoon in Georgetown.

Stuart Weitzmann boots It was beautiful. Birds were singing, the sun was shining and the cherry tree blossoms were bursting forth.

Tourists and locals alike were taking full advantage of this very fine spring day by strolling, running and cycling around the busy retail district and along the river promenade .

I myself walked and walked and walked.

I stopped once for lunch at the Miss Saigon restaurant and again later at an outdoor cafe along the river to enjoy a beverage. (Bet you can guess what kind of beverage) :-) .

Later I walked some more in a serious attempt to shake off the dust accumulated during 3 days of hotel and conference room confinement.

I spent a good three hours walking in the Stuart Weitzmann 2.5-inch-heel vanDyke boots that I’d worn each day during the conference.

The remarkable thing of it is - my tender tootsies didn’t protest one peep.

Nary a rub nor a blister.

Air Canada CJIf I didn’t have a plane to catch, I could easily have walked for another 3 hours in those boots.

Not only can I walk for great lengths in these boots, I can also run — as I discovered when they were put to a full-tilt test from one end of the Chicago O’Hare airport terminal to another.

Neither distance walking nor running are possible in basic department store shoes… and certainly not in a beautiful pair of Blahnik’s. Well-heeled women refer to the latter as ‘Valet shoes’, ie. you can only stand them (literally) from the point where you drop off your car with the valet to your seat in the restaurant… which you hope is a small restaurant.

I’m not into being hobbled by an expensive pair of shoes, which explains why I own these and 5 more pairs of Stuart Weitzmann’s fabulous boots including the Empire, Waterproof, Bonsoir and Bootiful models. (I’ll wax poetic about Weitzmann’s wunnnnderful shoes some other time. :-) )

Zappos.com carries vanDyke’s as well as the full range of Stuart Weitzmann shoes and handbags. To see a better picture of my favorite boots, type “Stuart Weitzmann vanDyke” into the search box below, or simply type in “Stuart Weitzmann” to see his full and fabulous line.

Search for Shoes

 Search for a Brand:

 or Find Shoes

OK. What the heck does walking around Georgetown in my much-loved Weiztmann’s have to do with you or Internet marketing?

Lots, actually.

If you were on a quest for a good pair of boots, wouldn’t you be more inclined to buy after reading a real account about a brand, make or model than if you simply read an ad that proclaimed ‘Great-Looking Comfortable Boots - Buy them Today!’?

Isn’t it also easier to write about products which you use and enjoy than those you don’t?

Doesn’t it therefore make sense that when you sell a product you know and love, that you’ll sell MORE of what you know and love?

It does and you should.

Best of all, think of what you can write off in the name of product research!!! :-)

Hmmm… speaking of which those ‘EasyRider’s’ are looking pretty fine too…

Happy selling!

Cheers,
Ros

I’ve Done You Wrong…

I’ve done you wrong.

Well, Yanik Silver’s Washington, D.C. version of the Underground Online Seminar has now come and gone - and I have to apologize because I’ve done you wrong.

I’d fully intended to blog several times during the event to share some of the secrets I was picking up.

Only ’some’ secrets mind you… I could tell you everything, but then I’d have to erase your memory or risk losing my ‘Secret Agent’ status.

Anyway, on Saturday afternoon, I wrote a lengthy blog entry directly into the Wordpress interface. When I hit ‘Publish’, the screen went to a ‘page cannot be found’ error.

Thinking I could back up and retrieve what I wrote, another ‘page cannot be found’ error occured.

Waaaaaaa.

Whaaaaaat happened?

Turns out that I’d run out of time on my hotel Internet connection and had to purchase another one to get connected again. By the time I did that, it was time to return to the conference hall and too late to rewrite the post.

Lesson learned… again…

Always, always, ALWAYS write within an HTML or text editor and cut and paste that into your site.

Oh ya, lesson #2… bring all necessary cables to upload to your computer if you plan to post pictures to your site.

Never fear however. The camera containing the aforementioned files is currently well-guarded and the goods will be delivered in due course.

Signing off from the Underground,

Secret Agent Ros

Are You at the Underground?

I just finished listening to Yanik Silver’s “Creating the Big HOOK or BIG Idea” presentation.

If you are here at the Underground II Seminar, you know that Yanik is an inspiration and informative speaker. He’s funny too.

Speaking of speaking…

If you are here at the Underground, and you see me, please stop by and say “Hello”.

I am recognizable from my picture. Look up at the banner at the top of this page - I haven’t gained (or lost) 100 pounds since the photo was taken last year. :-)

I’d love to meet you, find out what you’re up to and answer any questions that you may have.

Chat soon!

Searching the Clickbank Marketplace Made Easy… Finally!

Have you ever tried to hunt and peck your way around Clickbank in search of digital books or software to sell as a CB affiliate?

If you have, you know it’s always been a hassle.

Categorization is scant with only top and second-level categories through which to drill down and the categories aren’t even arranged alphabetically!

Clickbank recently made some changes… but they’re still not up to snuff.

However, this week I discovered a way to search the Clickbank marketplace extremely thoroughly, whereby I can display results exactly as I want them ordered and then build pages automatically around the products that are returned.

Read all about Clickbank’s new catalog and how I found a way to make searching the Marketplace even easier in “Searching the Clickbank Marketplace Made Easy… Finally!

Cryin’ in His Beer

Awhile back, Dan Reinhold posted to an NPT Forum topic entitled “What Tools do Affiliates Like?”, and told a story about the mistakes he’d made in trying to get his new ebook promoted by affiliates.

I thought his post was humorous and a good indicator to others about the quality of his book. So, thinking I might be able to help generate some publicity for his book, I took another look at his web site.

Aaargh… today’s NPT feature article “Humor Writer Cries in Beer as Pitch to Affiliates ‘Strikes Out’ ” details what I found.

Read it, and you’ll never weep.
