He Called it “Trash”

This past week in the “Google is Your Friend” forum post, Johans made a reference to an article I wrote last February entitled “How to Build a 1,000-Page Content Site in Mere Seconds!”, saying:

“Ros, wouldn’t you agree that 1,000 page affiliate sites that are created in mere seconds qualify as the sort of crap that Google is trying to rid the web of? If so… why promote that trash?”

My complete response to that question is in today’s NPT.

Latest Scam Emails

A couple of days ago I received the following in an email…

Dear ebay member,

Thank you for bidding on my item, you are the highest bidder at 1520$ .
Please respond to this email by clicking the button below so we can provide you with shipping cost ! We will need your zipcode .
Thank you

Huh? Say WHAT? I didn’t bid on anything!

Well, of course I didn’t! (I also didn’t click on the link.)

This was just another scam to try and get my account details.

Stay alert! Please don’t be fooled by idiots who wouldn’t know an honest buck if it slapped them upside the head.

Cheers,
Ros

Portal Feeder has Launched

Just in case you missed the ‘buzzzzz’, Jason Potash’s and Marc Quarles’ “Portal Feeder” System launches today, December 6th, at Noon Eastern… and CLOSES 24 hours later.

A number of NPT’ers have asked me what I think about it, but like you, I only know what I’ve read about it through Jason’s newsletters and in the Portal Feeder Blog.

Here’s a snippet of what Jason had to say in his latest news update about Portal Feeder, and you’ve got to admit, it sounds a lot they’re solidly on my ‘No More Crap Affiliate sites’ bandwagon…

“Right from the day Marc and I first brainstormed
about the whole concept of Portal Feeder, our
approach was simple…

To provide a complete end-to-end software suite
with the essential training and resources, to
enable marketers an efficient way to create
whitehat” content portals that survive long-term
within the search engines.

And in my books, “long-term” survival in the
search engines, doesn’t mean 3-6 months.

Let’s face it, people are getting tired of hoping
on the latest get-traffic-quick product. Building
a new website and then watching it crash in the
search engines in 3 months, is no picnic.

In fact, it’s downright frustrating.

And just like struggling to keep water out of a
sinking row boat, eventually the boat sinks.

Gravity catches up and it’s game over.

The same thing happens to push-button websites
designed to deceive or trick the search engines.

A new breed of websites are emerging. Websites
that play by the rules, contain useful
information, and yet STILL generate a flood of
traffic and profits.

In other words, the type of websites that visitors
actually bookmark because they provide value.

And these “new breed” of websites is what Portal
Feeder is all about.”

‘ stuff and building some more SEO sites, you should know that Google’s last update, nicknamed ‘Jagger‘ really put the screws to a number of ‘designed for the engines‘ sites. I’ve been reading the ‘my income was 30K last month - now it’s nothing’ laments on various forums.

It’s also no secret that Google plans to rid the web of a lot more crap in the next few months.

So, if you’re in that position, or are looking for a way to build what I call ‘Theme Park’ sites, you might want to check out Portal Feeder today.

“Secrets To Their Success” Celebrates 100th Success Story

To celebrate their 100th success story, the Internet Marketing Center’s “Secrets To Their Success” editors have prepared a *SPECIAL* December issue of the popular online magazine, which is now available.

This month they revisited the TOP 10 Best-Ever success stories to see what they’re up to now, how they’re strategies have changed and how their businesses have grown.

Included is a story about a 60 year old Grandmother who has quadrupled her earnings since January 2004, and a gentleman whose site earned $340 in the first month and is now a million-dollar-a-year online business that is receiving 40,000 visitors a month!

These webmasters have built successful online businesses around evreything from wire sculpture to scuba toys to dating services.

Did I say dating services? OK, yes, my own story profiling the success I’ve had with Sage-Hearts.com made the Top 10. :-)

To learn the strategies that I and other webmasters have used to build successful online businesses in a wide - and unusual - array of niche markets, I highly recommend that you visit “Secrets To Their Success” right now.

Aweber Integrates RSS to Email Feature

This new Aweber feature is very cool. It addresses the current lack of RSS awareness by your typical Internet user/site visitor.

Suppose you’ve given up sending a regular newsletter and have become a bloggin’ fool - trusting your visitors to plug your feed into their reader and download your updates.

Chances are you’re missing out big time.

According to a Yahoo! White Paper published last October, “Awareness of RSS is quite low among Internet users. 12% of users are aware of RSS, and 4% have knowingly used RSS.”

So how do you make sure your visitors receive your blog updates?

Use Aweber’s newly integrate RSS to Email Feed Broadcaster. It lets your visitors sign up for a traditional newsletter, then takes your published blog content and converts it to an email that is sent to your subscribers.

Just when I was thinking of going Blog-only, and was worrying about the implications, Aweber sent the answer.

DON’T Buy me a Coffee

I’ve got to chuckle every time I see one of those PayPal Donation buttons which encourage site visitors to ‘Support this Blog’ (or forum, or site), ‘Buy Me a Beer’ or ‘Buy Me a Coffee’… and actually, the “Buy Me a Beer” buttons DO make sense.

It’s a crafty way to make a few extra bucks, and if it works for them, that’s great.

But I’m not going to do that.

Nope, instead of asking for donations to support my bad habits, I’ve got a better idea.

My birthday is coming up on December 11th, and as opposed to gallons of coffee, I’d love to receive a BIRTHDAY card… yes, a REAL birthday card!

Of those I receive, one lucky person will receive the IMC’s “Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet — Version 2005” and the softcover version of my book, “The Super Affiliate Handbook: How I Made $436,797 in One Year Selling Other People’s Stuff Online“.

(If you’ve already got both, don’t worry, we’ll find a product of equal value for you…)

Please send cards to:

Rosalind Gardner
PO Box 24091
Penticton, BC
Canada
V2A 1X4

NOTE: Please be sure to print your name and your email address (legibly) in the card, so that I may get in touch with you.

Happy birthday to me, Happy birthday to me….
