Search Automator

search automatorForget typing "Google.com", "Amazon.com", "MSN.com", "Yahoo.com", "Clusty.com" (who knew there WAS a Clusty.com?), "A9.com" or dozens of other site's where you regularly do research ever again!

Just open up Search Automator, simply click on their respective icons, and VOILA!, you're there.

Here is a graphic image of Search Automator's easy-on-the-eyes interface.

At the top of the screen you'll see a list of icons presenting 'general' search types as follows:

  • Web
  • Audio
  • Reference
  • Word
  • Video
  • News
  • Rss/Blog
  • Travel
  • Health
  • Entertainment
  • Around the House
  • Tech

When you click on one of the 'general' sections, each then presents a large number of different site search options.

In the 'Tech' section, options presented are:

  • Yahoo! Shopping
  • Froogle
  • Epinion
  • CNet
  • CNet Shopping
  • CNet Search
  • CNet News
  • Download.com
  • Google Groups
  • Amazon
  • Amazon Books
  • eBay
  • Amazon Video Games

Most of the other sections in fact present far MORE options... but I'm lazy, and didn't feel like typing in that long a list. :-)

So for example, I wanted to do see some pics of my favorite car, the Mercedes 500SL AMG. I typed "Mercedes 500SL AMG" into the search box on the left-hand side of the interface, selected 'images' on the top row of icons, then started clicking across the next row of icons.

Amazing! I was shown page after page of what puts Ros in happy drool-dom.

Next, I selected the "Shopping" option, and surprise, surprise... the Walmart button returned "We're sorry there were no matches found". eBay Motors, on the other hand, had 110 entries for me to peruse.

The other most useful feature is the "Suggested Keywords to add to your search" that comes up on the left side of the interface.

After seeing all those Mercedes, I really needed to relax, so my next keyword search was "yoga".

Rather than think up and then type in "yoga tips", "yoga techniques", or "yoga videos", Search Automator presents a list of almost 30 of the most commonly-used 'additional' keywords.

Just click and GO!

How easy is THAT?

All in all, this is definitely the easiest, most useful research software tool that I have ever purchased!

Thank you, Derek Franklin!
