    Affiliate Summit 2005 and More...

I learned a valuable lesson after sending out last week's NPT!

Let's just say that broadcasting the fact that you don't like to cook really cuts down on the weekly marriage proposals. :-)

Hmmm... maybe I should add that fact to my dating service review sites? :-)

Speaking of love and the like... here's a response from Brian S. to the "$552.50 Movie Ticket" issue in which I lamented about Joel's missed opportunity to earn recurring income by writing a review of "28 SureFire Ways To Instant Dating Success".

    Hello Rosalind.

Joel may have weeped in his cornflakes but I bet you it was not for long. Joel wasn't looking at dollar signs from Affiliates regarding reviewing the book, '28 SureFire Ways To Instant Dating Success.'

After Joel read the book, he didn't want every man to have access to this knowledge off of your site. I'm sure once he put the strategies to work that he learned from the book he didn't have time to follow through with the review, by now he had 4 women on each arm and no time to review anything except the ladies.

Come on Joel, you've been holding out on this book for a reason now haven't you? Now you'll have to review the book on, '50 Ways To Leave Your Lover'.

Of course, Brian is absolutely correct about Joel's personal review of the book. Joel is in fact now attached, and I doubt he'll be writing a '50 Ways To Leave Your Lover' review any time soon - recurring affiliate income or not.

    Sorry ladies.

After sharing the non-existent review story wtih Adrian Bye over dinner during Yanik's conference, he chastised me thoroughly.

Actually, I think he began with 'Shame on you, Ros', then gave me heck for not farming out the project to someone who was actually looking for that type of work at Elance.com or Workaholics4Hire.com - and for which I'd pay only a flat fee.

    Adrian was right, of course.

Then again, I think it's more fun to share the wealth and give first dibs on such opportunities to people I know and like.

By the way, if you're interested in becoming a virtual assistant like Joel, check out Sylvie Charrier's ebook "You Can Work In Your PJs: Simple Strategies Anyone Can Use to Work at Home Forever".

Back on the subject of writing, Alan Bechtold and I are holding our e-publishing teleseminar tonite (Tuesday) at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific.

Like he says, "you don't have to be a scholar, or write well, or even write at all to put the power of E-Publishing to work for you!"

No kidding. Yesterday I couldn't even spell 'righter', and today I are one!

Don't worry if you can't join us on the call. We'll upload the recording on Wednesday or Thursday.

If you're unfamiliar with Alan's work, here's part of a note I received this week from Tom Schugart who attended Ken McCarthy's System Seminar in Chicago.

"... your presentation and Alan's were, for me, the most significant of the entire weekend. ... the atmosphere was electric and inspiring, thanks to the quality of the audience which Ken is able to attract. That alone made it worth going--plus the insights and clarification I received from listening to you and Alan."

More on writing and publishing... I see MANY of you picked up John Harricharan's new book "Power Pause" last week.

    Isn't it fabulous?

If you have time, please drop me a line with your thoughts and any insights you've picked up from reading his work.

If you missed the publication notice, you can still get a copy here:

Too, please drop me a line if you'll be attending the Affiliate Summit 2005 being held in Vegas, June 13th and 14th. I'll be there too, as a member of the "What Affiliates Want" panel discussion.

I'm gonna be like a kid in a candy store.

My list of affiliate 'wants' is as long as my arm... and the 'powers that be' affiliate managers will be at the Summit. Yee-ha!

Here are just a few items on that list...

Let's start with clean, well-categorized datafeeds, shall we?

How about on-going fresh creative that includes direct email ads, product reviews and customer testimonials WITH affiliate links embedded?

Most of all... how about some responsiveness? I won't say which major network this was (it wasn't CJ), but it took them more than a week to respond to one simple email query, and then they still didn't answer my question. Gee, and they wonder why I don't/won't promote their merchants.

    Sheesh.

What about you? What are your biggest beefs and bugaboos with affiliate programs?

Let me know and I'll do my best to get your message out to the appropriate people.

Check out the summit at the URL below. There may still be a seat or two left.

Last but not least, I was dismayed this week to see that Armand Morin released his latest product, Screen Cam Generator, about which my friend, multi-media expert Jim Edwards, is all agog.

So why was I dismayed? 'Cause I just laid out 3 hundred bucks for Camtasia Studio to put together my first a/v package. I opened the program once and closed it again almost immediately. Sure, I knew there would be a learning curve for a total non-geek like me, but it did appear more than a tad intimidating.

So when Armand announced Screen Cam Generator, I signed up to get more information and received the links to his tutorials, which show a lovely clean interface with intuitive commands.

Looks like I'll be dollar-cost-averaging my recording software and investing in Screen Cam Generator in the near future. (Hey, it beats saying that I'll be taking a loss on Camtasia, right?)

To check out the tutorials yourself, visit the site below. Shortly after signing up with your e/m/a/i/l address you'll receive a note that includes a link to the tutorials.

You know how I'm always harpin' about how you gotta have single-theme focused sites?

Well, next week we'll look at how you can incorporate seemingly irrelevant products (or products you may not have thought to add) into your site to claim an even bigger piece of the affiliate pie!

'Til next time, promote and prosper!
