NEW! Upcoming Events: Conferences & Teleseminars
Ros' Ramblings
How was your week? Busy, productive, lucrative? I hope so!
Mine certainly was. What with the impending move and a week
away prior to
the move, I've been scrambling to get more
than the usual amount of work
done.
So, I'll keep this intro brief because not only have I been
busy with
personal and business stuff, there's also lots to
share with you in this
issue of the NPC!
Don't forget to check out the "NEW! Upcoming Events"
section, which lists
my conference and teleseminar schedule.
To Your Success,
Rosalind
P.S. Read the NPC next week to find out why the end of the
"Friends" TV
series is good for your business. :-)

Last week I talked about how I wasn't getting some of your
mail due to
filtering. Here are a couple of suggestions
that I got in response:
Like you, I think email filtering has gone WAY
too far
I resent the very idea that some yahoo
(:>) must decide
for me what email I should
see.
SO, I use MailWasher Pro. It's a terrific program
that
lets ME decide what to accept (without
downloading it)
and who to blacklist. I would not be
without it!

I have turned off most of the filtering at two
ISPs and
filter it myself using either Mozilla or
Thunderbird.
Mozilla and Thunderbird use artificial
intelligense to
filter mail. You merely click on it
to designate it as junk
and it learns fairly quickly
what is junk and automatically
sends it to junk or
trash.
Most developers use Thunderbird for sending and
receiving
email.

The subject of spyware and its removal was covered in "Is
Your Online
Privacy at Risk?". Two readers objected to my
choice of Spyware Nuker for
spyware removal, saying that the
program itself was 'adware'.
Although I did not see any sign of downloading any
additional software or
advertising, during my testing, I
did do some further research.
I found that most concerns related to Spyware Nuker were
about its licence
agreement which reserves the right to make
automatic updates to the
software.
Causing most of the concern was a portion of the agreement
that stated the
autmatic updates could include, but were
"not limited to...advertising or
other value-added
software".
That portion of the agreement has been deleted from the
current version,
and the following statement has been added:
SPYWARENUKER IS NOT ADWARE AND WILL NEVER DOWNLOAD ADWARE OR
SPYWARE
APPLICATIONS ONTO YOUR PC.
A CNET test of Spyware Nuker found that the software did
not appear
to include any bundled advertising software along
with it.
If you downloaded Spyware Nuker and are concerned about it,
you can
uninstall the software using the Add/Remove Programs
utility on your PC.
Here are some alternatives about which I found no negative
press.

Increasing Site Revenue: Forget the Gizmos
Forget the 3D logo. Toss the animated graphics and pictures
of pretty
women.
Cool scripts don't help you much, and music will kill the
deal.
What the heck am I talking about?
I'm talking about all the things webmasters and developers
use to make
their sites 'better'.
But better for whom?
Unless your objective is beautiful design, or to showcase
your talent as a
developer, those elements contribute
almost nothing to your bottom line.
In fact, they often clutter and detract from your real
objective which
should be to sell products!
To get the message out about your product, you use words,
not gizmos.
Your words persuade people to visit your site, subscribe to
your
newsletter and buy your or your merchants' products.
How you use your words makes the difference between your
site's success or
failure.
Here are two examples of how words are used to sell real
estate:
1. Lakefront home on 60 feet of beach in Penticton. View.
2. Once in a lifetime opportunity to own one of Penticton's
premier
lakefront homes with approximately 60 ft of soft
sandy beachfront. Awesome
view down lake.
Which listing would persuade you to to call your realtor?
Number two, right?
But why?
If you are like most of us, you respond emotionally to the
words
'premier', 'sandy' and 'awesome view'.
The 'opportunity' to live a 'premier' lifestyle, and feel
the sand between
your toes as you enjoy your awesome view
appeals to your senses in a
pleasurable way.
Appealing to your readers' emotions is critical. A few
choice words can
skyrocket your conversion rates.
And you don't need to be a seasoned writer or an established
author to
make your words sell more of your products.
Writing is a skill that can be learned like any other.
When you combine your desire to improve your writing skill
with experts'
books, courses, and seminars - copywriting
becomes easier and much more
fun.
Best of all, just a little effort to improve your writing
will reap huge
financial rewards.
Just 'tweaking' one paragraph can double or even quadruple
your current
conversion rates.
Try it - The rewards you gain by learning to write copy well
are worth
much more than a few bucks and a couple hours of
your time.

Do You Want to Go to the Ted Nicholas
Bootcamp in My Place?
Master copywriter, Ted Nicholas, whose fabulous new book,
"Turn Words
into Money" I told you about a couple of weeks
ago, is having a bootcamp May
21st to May 23rd in San
Antonio, Texas.
I won a 50% discount to attend, but can't be there, as I
have to be with
my mom who is having surgery the week
before.
Instead of letting this opportunity slip, I asked if I
could pass this
savings on to you, and Ted said "Yes!"
It gets better. Not only is Ted sharing his genius in this
bootcamp, but
he's also offering a 12-month marketing
protégé program.
Read more about it at the URL below.

To take advantage of the 50% discount, please send Ted's
assistant, Troy,
a note at troy@smallbusinesscopywriter.com
and
let him know that Rosalind sent you.
