Telephone Consulting
Ros' Ramblings
What a week! I hope to heck yours was MUCH better than mine!
First I got a spate of not-so-nice mail from people who
thought I was ignoring their messages.
Well, I wasn't. I answer 95% of my mail within a few hours.
So, what was happening?
Well, in a few cases I hadn't received their mail. In most
cases however, they weren't getting my responses.
I tested the system out with different people, and sure
enough 3 out of 5 of the tests didn't arrive at their
inboxes.
Drive me nuts!
Filtering has gone too far.
Now it's affecting mail between friends, family and
colleagues.
The current and proposed solutions are more hassle
than help, and it's frustrating because it's costing
us time, money and needless effort.
It's especially frustrating when some of the supposed 'good
guys' work AGAINST legitimate marketers, as is the case with
Norton's Internet Security which comes with their ad
blocking turned on by default.
Graphic banners, Google Adsense, text links and Commission
Junction links are being erased. Even graphic logos of
certain sizes no longer appear in the browsers of those who
are using these versions of NIS. Whole sections of web sites
are being erased where nothing but white space remains.
Frustrating? It's absolutely criminal!
What can we do about it? Work furiously to change our links
using Affiliate Link Cloaker software and the like to make
sure our websites continue to appear as they should.
==> Affiliate Link Cloaker
Give it a couple of seconds to load... the site might be
REALLY busy.
That's about all the 'little guy' can do at the moment.
Also, have faith that it won't be long before Norton changes
its approach to defacing web sites. Google and CJ are already
talking to them. Software fixes are in the works. It won't
be long before the civil action suits are filed.
We (the good guys) WILL prevail. We always do.
Just don't let them get you down, and don't ever give up!
To Your Success!

Is Your Privacy at Risk?
Have you noticed your computer running slower than ever?
The reason for that may have to do with online advertisers
adding SpyWare or AdWare to your computer without your
knowledge.
Everytime you download freeware or shareware, you risk also
downloading spyware which can cause major problems with your
PC and put your privacy at serious risk.
Spyware is now the leading threat to your computer and your
online privacy, ahead of viruses.
"Spyware" is a common term for files that are installed on
your system without your knowledge that allow companies to
monitor your Internet activity.
"AdWare" is software that will show you popup ads over and
over.
"System Monitors" can keep track of every keystroke that you
make on your computer. Yes! That means credit card numbers,
bank account information and everything else that you don't
want to share with thieves.
I started thinking more about spyware after visiting with a
girlfriend who complained that her computer was bogging down
and that she had suddenly started receiving odd,
unsolicited and unwanted emails.
Because her daughter frequently downloads free games,
I immediately suspected spyware as the cause of her computer
problems.
Sure enough, a scan revealed more than 25 instances of
spyware on her system. We eradicated them, tweaked up her
mail filters and now my friend reports that her computer no
longer 'bogs down' and that the spam problem no longer
exists.
When I got home I decided to invetigate my own computer for
spyware. A Norton scan picked up 8 instances which I
immediately removed.
Although I expected that Nortons Anti-Virus and Internet
Security was sufficient to protect me from most spyware, I
decided to see if I could find any more instances by using a
different product.
Sure enough, another popular spyware detection product
detected 55 MORE instances of spyware still residing on my
computer.
Yikes!
So, if one program could pick up that many more 'bugs' then
I simply had to try another.
I ended up trying SpyNuker which came up with 72 MORE
infected components!!!
All told my computer had 133 instances of spyware and
adware.
Aargh.
How many infected components does YOUR computer have?
Don't run the risk of harming your PC, or having your
important information stolen.
To find out how many "SpyWare" infections your PC has,
Spyware Nuker is offering every computer owner the
opportunity to scan their computer free of charge.
